For the best photo's looking over Lake Tekapo I recommend that you go down Lilybank Road in the morning and Godley Peaks Road in the evening, as this will mean that you are not looking into the sun to take your photo so you will be able to get better sky colour and light on the surrounding mountains. If you are here in the middle of the day then you will be able to get a good shot from the top of Mt John looking back toward Tekapo. Lupins usually flower in late November and last a few months as long as the Department of Conservation don't spray - then kill them, unbelievable! The Mt Cook lily is also very nice, they flower during November but only last a month, each flower will only last a few days. Summer time is also a good time to get photos of the greenish colour of both Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki, you need a very high angle of the sun so the middle of the day is better, also after a windy day so the glacier water and clear top water mix together and I recommend using a circular polarizer. One of the best views is from Mt John, you are able to drive up there during the day time and enjoy coffee and advice from the Astro Cafe or take a tour of the astronomy Domes with the guides from Earth and Sky and enjoy the panorama views
